Salvazione School is a co-educational primary school founded in 1991 in Johannesburg and serves as the outreach school for The Ridge School, St Katharine’s, and Auckland Park Preparatory School. We started it to provide education for students from the Slovo Park informal settlement. The children from these underprivileged communities face financial and personal obstacles due to unemployment, poverty, and ill health in their communities that keep them from attending local schools. Our vision is to nurture and develop every child’s potential and give them the best possible future. We aim to create a caring environment that positively impacts all children.

Led by our Headmistress Sharon Walker, Salvazione School welcomes 219 children from Grade R to Grade 7. We offer a well-rounded curriculum, effective governance, and sound financial management. Our finances are overseen by The Ridge School’s Bursar and undergo independent audits. The members of the Board include the Heads of the three partner schools.

Our school is a registered Public Benefit Organisation and Non-Profit Organisation. It is self-funded annually by the generosity of ongoing donations. Our funding primarily comes from private donations (45%), our partner schools (13.5%) and approximately 30% from the State susbsidy. With only around 5% of our income raised from school fees, we are in a unique and challenging situation. We need your support!
